W.P. Kellam collection
Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteWilliam Porter Kellam (1905-1993) was born in North Carolina and attended college at Duke University and Emory University. Kellam came to the University of Georgia in 1950 as the Director of the Library. His first project was to oversee the construction of the Main Library building. He served as president and chairman of the board of the United States Book Exchange, president of the Southeastern Library Association, president of Phi Kappa Phi and was an active Rotary club member in Athens. In 1982, the W. Porter Kellam Library Enrichment Fund was created to bring scholars to the University of Georgia. Warren Boes was the director of the University of Georgia Libraries from 1973-1979. During this time, he oversaw the development and implementation of the MARVEL library materials management system.
