Henry L. Turner letterbook
Collection DescriptionScope and ContentThe collection consists of a letterbook of Henry Lathrop Turner from 1895-1897. Approximately five hundred letters addressed to several recipients address a plethora of issues. Several letters concern the Cotton States Exposition in Atlanta in 1895. Letters addressed to Alfred Orendorff, Mayor Porter King, Captain Henry C. Ward (and others) regard exposition grounds, pitching up camps and feeding regiments, running out of cups, setting up programs and parades, football games between athletic clubs, and battle exercises. Further letters addressed to Thomas Cratty, General George W. Wingate, E.P. Ripley, and A.B. Nettleton (to name a few) regard stocks, stock holders, franchises, and "the butter matter."
