Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteAugusta Amelia (Daisy) Wright Mell (1869-1944) helped organize The League of Women Voters in Athens, Clarke County, Georgia, and was active in the American Red Cross in Georgia during World War I. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of papers of and concerning Augusta Amelia (Daisy) Wright Mell from 1879-1944. Included are awards and certificates presented to Daisy from American Defense Society and the National Woman's Liberty Loan Committee; correspondences to Daisy from League of American Pen Women, and Advertising Club of Athens; letterheads of various businesses in Athens, Georgia, including the Treasury Department, Sixth Federal Reserve District, and Athens Savings Bank. Also included are photographs of Daisy Mell, George Anderson Mell, and Arminius Wright; the wills of George and Daisy Mell; and photocopies of newspaper articles pertaining to the death and funeral of Daisy.
