The correspondence is mostly personal in nature and contains letters to and from friends and colleagues, his brother Edwin K. Lumpkin discussing family matters, and various charitable organizations in Atlanta that he supported. The collection contains a scattering of material relating to his professional life as a lawyer and judge. Of particular interest are letters regarding his 1906 campaign for the Georgia Supreme Court.
