Scope and ContentThe collection consists of papers of Herschel Vespasian Johnson and his family from 1832-1976. Papers include a copy of Johnson's autobiography, an album containing poetry, writings, and drawings, a few newspaper clippings, and correspondence. The autobiography, a copy of the original manuscript written by Johnson in 1867, covers Johnson's entire political career. Correspondence is mainly from Johnson to his daughter Tallulah Horne and her husband Pearce, with several to his daughter Gertrude discussing primarily family matters.
