Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteHenry Holcombe Tucker (1819-1898) was a clergyman, educator, President of Mercer, and the Chancellor of the University of Georgia (1874-1878). Scope and ContentThe collection consists of two diaries of Henry Holcombe Tucker for 1870 and 1877. The 1870 diary, kept by Tucker while at Mercer University (Penfield, Georgia), contains notes on sermons Tucker gave, family news, events at Mercer, gardening, purchases, and accounts relating to his Georgia taxes. The 1877 diary Tucker maintained while at the University of Georgia (Athens) and it includes notes on lectures Tucker gave, family news, and financial accounts.
