Collection DescriptionScope and ContentThe collection consists of papers of the Howell Cobb, Sr. and the Cobb family of Athens, Clarke County, Georgia. Consists primarily of correspondence to or from Howell Cobb, Sr. and concerns mainly news of family and friends, law cases, and a few references to Reconstruction politics. One letter, dated January 31, 1887 to Howell Cobb, Jr. from Burton Harrison, discusses exiled Southerners living in Europe, meeting Jefferson Davis, and the improbability of Davis being brought to trial.
