Collection DescriptionScope and ContentThe collection consists of receipts of General Howell Cobb and correspondence of the Cobb family of Athens, Georgia, from 1824-1888. Several letters from Harry L. Flash to Howell Cobb pertain to the sale of the MACON TELEGRAPH. Two letters of particular interest: dated Richmond, July 24, 1861, "Dear Wife," signed "Howell Cobb," regarding battle and people killed in battle; dated Athens, June 15, 1861, "Dear Brother," signed "Thomas R.
