Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteWilliam L. Mitchell (1805-1882) was a native Georgian and lived most of his life in Athens, Georgia. He married first Sarah C. Neisler and second L. L. Bass. He was a lawyer, member of the state legislature, superintendent of the Western and Atlantic Railroad, 33rd degree Mason, and professor of law at the University of Georgia. He also served as trustee and secretary and treasurer of the university. Henry Bass Mitchell was born in 1855 and received his A.B. from the University of Georgia at the age of 20. Married to Hattie G. Hart, he became a farmer and landowner, but he was also an exceptionally talented artist and inventor. Organization and ArrangementArranged in chronological order.
