Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteWilliam Marion Carlton was born February 7, 1912 in Ocala, Marion County, Florida. He died on November 27, 1973 in Athens, Georgia. He was a professor of botany at the University of Georgia. He had received in dotcorate from the University of Chicago before World War II, and after the conflict's conclusion, sought a professorship.
