Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteSamuel Meeker was a Philadelphia merchant and militia captain. James Winchester served as a captain in the Continental Army. After the Revolution, he moved to Tennesee and was active in the government. Nashville in present-day Sumner County. Both moved to the Tennessee country by 1785 and immediately became active in frontier government and military service. In 1802, he built a hom in Cragfont, Tennessee.
