Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteEtheldred Rainey, a soldier in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, was a native of Newnan, Georgia. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of a diary of Etheldred Rainey, while serving in Phillips Legion of the Georgia State Reserves during the Civil War from October-December 1861. Entries chronicle in great detail his camp and actions in the field at Raleigh and Fayetteville (North Carolina), Johnson City (Tennessee), and Virginia.
