Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteJames Pleasants Waddell, the oldest son of Dr. Moses Waddell and Eliza Woodson Pleasants Waddell, was born on January 5, 1801 in Abbeville District, South Carolina. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1822 and returned to teach ancient languages from 1836 until 1856. Wadell married Frances (Fannie) W. Hull on October 28, 1822 and they had four children: Ann Pleasants, William Henry, Moses H., and Elizabeth. He died in Athens, Georgia on May 26, 1876.
