Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteHubert B. Owens (1905–89), a professor of landscape design, established UGA's landscape architecture program in 1928. He was named the first dean of the School of Environmental Design (now College of Environment and Design) in 1969 and served as director of the American Society of Landscape Architects between 1965 and 1967. He also designed several gardens throughout Georgia and the South at large, including UGA's Founders Memorial Garden. Scope and ContentThe collection consists of Hubert Owens' conference files, teaching materials, and records related to the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA).
