Uga (mascot) records
Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteThe mascot of the University of Georgia, Uga, has been in service of the school since Uga I's debut in 1956. Since then, Frank "Sonny" Seiler, a trial attorney in Savannah, Georgia, has maintained the lineage of the pure white English Bulldog. Uga attends every home game in his red jersey and spiked collar and enjoys laying on bags of ice or lounging in his air-conditioned dog house. To date, there have been ten iterations of Uga. Scope and ContentThe collections consists of correspondence, photographs, and news clippings. Also included are memorabilia associated with Uga, veterinary records, and breeding information. This collection has a significant amount of correspondence pertaining to Sonny Seiler's biographic book on Uga, Damn Good Dawgs.
