Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteSince 1944 the ten members of the Jenkins Club, selected from University of Georgia faculty of diverse disciplinary backgrounds, has gathered on the second Thursday of each month in the academic calendar to share dinner, exchange ideas and bridge some of the interdisciplinary gaps in the large and complex modern University. For many years the late Dr. Jack Payne (known in Club parlance as "he who directs") took responsibility for organizing club activities and collecting these materials. Scope and ContentWhile the Jenkins Club decided to keep no minutes, these records give insight into its operations over the years. Dr. Payne's own manuscript in folder one gives the history of the organization and career information about many of its members. Folder two also contains a wealth of information about the careers of several members. Apparently it was the practice of the club to send a collection of research published by members to new members for review. Folder 4 contains a selection of articles sent to member Dr. Thomas Dyer.
