Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteFounded in 1920, The Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA) was established to encourage, support, and further education in landscape architecture specifically related to teaching, research, scholarship, and public service. CELA is devised primarily of all the programs of higher learning in landscape architecture in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Scope and ContentThis collection serves to help document CELA related materials from the 1950s through the 1990s and was created by the University of Georgia School of Environmental Design (now College of Environment and Design) founder and first dean, Hubert B. Owens. It contains numerous materials related to the administration of CELA which include correspondence, minutes, newsletters, and subject files.
