Collection DescriptionBiographical/historical noteDr. Richard Powell served as the first president of the South Georgia State Normal College, later the Georgia State Womans College at Valdosta. In 1933, the Regents of the University System of Georgia reassigned him as Dean of UGA's Coordinate College in Athens, GA. Powell retired in 1946. Scope and ContentThis collections consists of Dean Richard Holmes Powell correspondence and paperwork from 1924 through 1941. It includes his correspondence as President of the Georgia State Womans College at Valdosta to R. P. Brooks of the University of Georgia.
