Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteOmer Clyde Aderhold studied education at the University of Georgia and received his Bachelor's degree in 1923 and his Master's degree in 1930. He went on to complete his PhD at Ohio State University in 1938. Aderhold secured a position in 1929 with the University as an associate professor and sixteen years later accepted the post of Dean of the College of Education. He held this post until he assumed the duties and responsibilities of the President of the University in 1950. Aderhold was very influential in the growth of the University and from 1950 until his retirement in 1967 both the student body and building construction greatly expanded around the campus. For example, the Ilah Dunlap Little Memorial Library was constructed and the Library's holdings jumped from 250,000 to nearly 1,000,000 volumes.
