Collection DescriptionHistorical NoteFor three years Meryll Penson was the Associate University Librarian for Public Services at the University of Georgia. Beginning in 2000, she served as Executive Director for Library Services, Office of Instructional and Information Technology, Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia (USG). Responsibilities include GALILEO (Georgia's Virtual Library available statewide) and GIL (the library automation system for the 35 USG institutions). In addition, she helped write the original GALILEO proposal and worked toward its adoption as well as leading the effort for selection and implementation of GIL. Scope and ContentThis collection contains Merryll Penson's files relating to the creation and implementation of the GALILEO project. The files date from 1994 through 2004.
