Collection DescriptionHistorical noteThe College of Family and Consumer Sciences Oral History Collection is a collaboration between the Russell Library and the College of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Georgia that arose in July 2017 in anticipation of the college's centennial in 2018. Scope and ContentThe collection is comprised of interviews with current and former faculty members and deans of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences. Participants discuss topics including the history of home economics and human ecology, the evolution of the discipline and its acceptance and application over the past century, as well as its outlook for the future. Participants also talk about curriculum development, experiential learning initiatives and internships, and interdisciplinary partnerships with other colleges on campus. Also discussed is the 1990 name change from the College of Home Economics to the College of Family and Consumer Sciences.
