Collection DescriptionBiographical NoteMembers of the Hollis family were residents of Douglas County, Georgia in the 1930s and 1940s. Carole Hollis's paternal grandparents owned a grocery store near Fort Mcpherson, Georgia and her father was a member of the Merchant Marines before buying a home and starting a poultry farm in Douglas County. Scope and ContentThis collection includes household items owned by members of Carole and Gerald Hollis's families. Items in this collection include one utilitarian quilt made from feed sacks (81" x 68"), one Dixie Bell cast iron stove stamped with "Southern Co-operative, Foundry Rome, Georgia" measuring (30" x 36" x 2' H), and one cast iron wash pot.
