The collection also includes two honors presented to Spalding: a certificate naming Spalding as a member of Pope John XXIII's Council and Advisory Group of the Atlanta Diocese (1959); Newman Club "Georgia Catholic Award," 1960.

Note: The question of consolidation was defeated in a referendum on May 24, 1972.

The summonses, dated January 16, 1845, are addressed to the Marshall of the United States for the Southern District of New York; and Abraham Asten, Jesse Oakley, Andrew Warner, and James W. Metcalf.

Brown which he either collected or selected from the Brown family papers. In some cases, a particular person is represented by a single item, while there are fourteen letters of Alexander H. Stephens to Joseph E. Brown discussing Reconstruction politics.

The collection consists of a notebook and order book of Benjamin Lincoln. The notebook contains essays composed by Lincoln from 1780-1795. Essay titles include: State of Matters Relative to the Defense and Loss of Charlestown; Rise, Progress and Suppression of the Massachusetts Rebellion; Causes of the Failure of the Mission to the Hostile Indians; Invalidity of the Claims of the Indians to the Grounds on Which They Hunt; Observations on the Climate & C. of the Eastern Counties; On the Religious State of the Eastern Counties; On the Migration of Fishes; Observations Founded on a Letter to Judge Lowell on the Idea that Worms in the Vegetables and Animal Bodies Were the Consequences and Not the Cause of Corruption; and Why the Indian Tribes Decrease & C. The order book contains orders written by General Benjamin Lincoln from 1779-1780. Orders mainly concern general military administration and discipline of troops. Of particular interest are orders pertaining to marches or sieges at Augusta, Georgia, Savannah, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina.

Also includes letters to Hubner from Hayne's wife Mary and son William H. Hayne, and letters from Hayne to Hubner's daughter, Ida.

The collection consists of papers of James Daniel Frederick and the Frederick family from 1844-1899, 1942. The bulk of the collection consists of diaries and account books of James D. Frederick. The diaries (1844-1856 and 1873-1899) contain entries describing Frederick's student life at the University of Georgia, a few minutes and the constitution of the Washingtonian Temperance Society of Franklin College, and entries pertaining to crop conditions, weather, and farming practices for Frederick's farm in Marshallville, Macon County, Georgia. Entries for the period 1873-1889 are sparse and usually are recorded once a year. The account books (1873, 1875-1878, 1880-1882, and 1888-1892) include occasional notes but mainly record items purchased for operating the farm. The collection also contains a diary (January - April 1882) of Eugene Frederick pertaining to the operation of his farm; a typescript of THE KEENE FAMILY containing photographs, genealogical charts, and clippings; and the original mockup for THE RUMPH-FREDERICK FAMILIES including correspondence, photographs, clippings, and genealogical charts. The genealogical material was collected by Louise Frederick Hays.

The collection consists of the diary of a blockade runner during the Civil War from December 1861 through February 1862. The diary describes the voyage from New York to Halifax, Nova Scotia and the return voyage on the brigantine the Standard of Windsor, loaded with dry goods, food, and medicine for the Confederate government. The author describes in detail the weather, sea conditions, eating habits, and life aboard ship; fears of capture by Union forces; maneuvers used to run the blockade; and off loading the cargo. Also contained in the collection are research notes, speeches, and correspondence of William Porter Kellam pertaining to his research of the diary. Kellam attributes the diary to James Dickson in Savannah, Georgia.

The collection consists of 14 bound volumes of British theatre programs from 1937-1951. Programs include Old Vic productions, several of John Gielgud's and Laurence Olivier's performances and seasons, productions at the Arts Theatre Club and the Westminster Theatre. Several programs are for London West End productions, but also include programs for the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre of Stratford-Upon-Avon, the Perth Theatre Company, and other important provincial theatres. Included separately bound from the other programs (volumes 12-13) is a complete run of the weekly repertory programs of the Wheeler & Salisbury Company at the Royal Artillery Theatre, Woolwich.

The collection contains personal correspondence to family and friends, including his brother Joseph H. Lumpkin, and his wife and children. The personal correspondence pertains to his law practice, social life in Athens (Ga.), Lumpkin's interest in national and state politics, and in particular the campaigns of kinsman Hoke Smith. The J.T. Dudley papers (1906-1912) contain correspondence dealing with buying and selling land throughout the South. The papers of Edwin K. Lumpkin, Jr. (1910-1915) consist mainly of correspondence relating to his legal practice. The papers of Lumpkin's law partner, Wiley B. Burnett contain mainly bills and receipts, with a few letters relating to the law firm.
