The collection consists of biographical information, financial papers, scrapbook/school book, medical notebooks, printed material, and photographs. Conway's typed autobiography describes his life as a child on the plantation, his Civil War experiences, and his medical career. His medical notebooks list patients and their treatments. He also wrote a notebook about early medicine and remedies. The school notebook of Mamie Conway (Dr. Conway's daughter) was begun while she was a student at the Lucy Cobb Institute (Athens, Ga.) and later turned into a scrapbook of clippings and mementos. Photographs include the wedding of Mamie Conway and William C. Mizelle/Mizell in 1904. Additionally, there are postcards to Mary Ann and Ola Kemp and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas P. Dent; a small number of items from Conway Mizelle's travels in Cuba; and material related to Patrick Mizelle at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit (Conyers, Ga.).

Collection includes three journals by Cornelius Herbert Longstreet (1831-1901) documenting his experiences as an acting assistant paymaster on the U.S. Bark Braziliera, a blockader ship during the American Civil War (1861-1865). Also included is Longstreet's official letter copy book which covers his correspondence as a paymaster from 1863 to 1866 and a transcribed copy of his journal entries. Cornelius Herbert Longstreet's journals were transcribed in 1942 by his grandson Rubert James Longstreet (1892-1969) and compiled into a book titled "Journal of a Civil War Blockader". Rubert J. Longstreet's transcription includes occasional notes to provide identification or context to the entries.

The materials document the activities of the De Renne family and include information on the management and administration of Wormsloe Plantation; business ventures of the De Rennes; books and book collecting; and wine purchases including inventories. Correspondents include George Wymberley Jones De Renne, Wymberley Jones De Renne, Wymberley Wormsloe De Renne, Kentwyn De Renne, Augusta De Renne, Elfrida De Renne Barrow, and Charlton M. Theus.
