The collection consists of two hand-drawn plats. The Eliza Newton Estate plat details the individual lots established when
the property was subdivided, adjoining Bloomfield's and Vonderette's land on the south, Watkinsville Road (Lumpkin Street)
on the east, and essentially Pope Street on the west and Baxter Street on the north. The verso contains "Plat of town lots,
property of J. Wilkerson, 1869". The northern boundary is the proposed Broad Street extension, with the proposed Oconee Avenue
as its eastern and southern bounds, and includes the Cooke Bros. Armory (Chicapee Building).

This work is given the fully descriptive title (in manuscript) of "Charters and Amendatory Acts of Georgia Banks, Insurance
and Trust Companies, also the General Banking Law, and Acts regulating the Intercourse between Banks and Brokers. Laws, concerning
mismanagement and Insolvency of Banks, and in reference to Bills of Exchange, Notarial Certificates, Mortgages, etc. 1839."
Included is information on the Commercial Bank of Macon, Insurance Bank of Columbus, Bank of Hawkinsville, Farmers Bank of
Chattahoochie, Mechanics Bank of Augusta and numerous other Augusta banks, Bank of the State of Georgia, Bank of Darien, Planters
Bank Savannah, Bank of Milledgeville, Bank of Brunswick, Ocmulgee Bank, Bank of St. Marys, several railroad and banking companies,
and insurance and trust companies.

The collection consists of correspondence of the Champion family from 1816-1869. The bulk of the collection contains letters
written by Aaron Champion of Savannah (Georgia) or Moses Champion of Monticello (Georgia) to Dr. Reuben Champion, Jr. of West
Springfield (Massachusetts). The Champions comment on the social, political, and economic situations occurring in Georgia
during. The collection also contains an 1816 letter from H. Stebbins of Savannah to Dr. Reuben Champion, Jr. pertaining to
Savannah, the people, commerce, and slavery; three letters from Henry Champion of Montgomery (Alabama) to Dr. Champion discussing
the proposed statehood of what was then the western territory; and a series of letters written from Savannah during the Civil
War discussing the formation of the Confederacy, the progress of the war, and its effect upon the civilian population.

The collection consists of one Greek manuscript, probably papyrus, origin unknown, from the early 2nd century A. D. It measures
6.2 X 7 cm with a 2 cm margin at the lefthand side. It is a small fragment of a private letter written in a fair upright
script to be compared with W. Schubart, Tabula 22. Only the beginning of seven lines is preserved and the document is difficult
to read. "A son Herm[ ]" or "a son of Herm[ ]" is mentioned in 1.2. The word "grapes" occurs in 1.3.
