The collection consists of correspondence from William Calvin Jeffress to his father, Edward T. Jeffress, dating February 27-June 13, 1864. The letters describe Jeffress' unit's participation in the action at Dalton and Rocky Face Ridge in Georgia, descriptions of camp life and conditions. In addition, Jeffress forwards advice and instructions concerning crops and finances. Letters dating June 2 and June 13, 1864 are written from the field, near Marietta, Georgia. Other items included in the collection are two twenty dollar bills of Confederate money, a typed biography of Jeffress (by his son in 1916), and Jeffress's oath of loyalty to the United States.

The collection consists of two legal documents prepared and signed by Henry L. Sims, in Lumpkin Superior Court, 1847, involving a possible gold scam in Lumpkin County, Georgia. Johnson Ledbetter sued Martin Roberts, Jeptha Scott, and Jonas Bedford, charging them with a conspiracy to sell him land in Lumpkin County that included gold deposits when they knew there were none. The documents include Scott's answer, disavowing all knowledge to the specifics of Ledbetter's charges, and an interrogatory from Sims to a witness, asking for information concerning gold mining activity on the land, and with Ledbetter's counter-interrogatories appended.

The collection consists of one document and ration chart: issued at Fort Troup, Fayette County, providing for Alexander Ware's issuing rations of meal, meat, and salt to 206 Indians for the ten-day period beginning June 28, 1825 and ending July 7, 1825, signed (with "their marks") by Capt. Senoywa, Capt. Edija, Warlockajoe and Hagy McIntosh. Also included in the collection is a document with hand written copies of two orders: one dated Indian Fort, Fayette County, August 14, 1825, from Luther Blake, notifying Ware that, by order of Gen. E.P. Gaines, he is to stop issuing rations; the second from Ware to General Gaines providing him with a cost table for all rations issued by him up to the closing date.
