The collection consists of genealogies, family trees, pedigrees, newspaper clippings, articles, pictures, and other materials related to the Aspinwall family. These include copies of Peter Aspinwall and his Descendants, by Algernon Aikin Aspinwall, 1901; The Aspinwall and Aspinall Families of Lancashire. A. D. 1189-1923, by Henry Oswald Aspinwall, 1923; and The Aspinwall Story, by Willie Mae Aspinwall Youmans. There are also two unfinished manuscripts by Dr. Kathryn Blake, a descendant of the family: 1.) The Handbook of Research, Development and Evaluation in Special Education; and 2.) The Law and the Handicapped. There are numerous writings by Dr. Blake in the collection, as well as some other material, such a charts and a poster.

The collection consists of correspondence, a diary, writings, and other papers of Robert G. Stone, who was a Confederate soldier with Company K, 15th Georgia Infantry; together with land plats and indentures to property in Hancock and Washington Counties, Ga.; and other ephemera such as Stone's C. S. A. cuff link and medals. Stone's few letters and diary entries follow his service from 1860 through 1865, when he surrendered at Appomattox Court House shortly before General Lee's surrender. Stone left Sparta, Georgia in 1860 and served in battles at Chattanooga, Richmond, Antietam, 2nd Manassas, Sharpsburg, Appomattox Courthouse, etc. His activities were recorded on a bible cover which is part of this collection.

The Van Giesen Family Collection contains the manuscript materials of the Uriah Van Giesen family of Savannah. The collection includes correspondence, legal documents, clippings, etc. of the extended family, but the bulk of the collection relates to Van Giesen's service to the Confederacy in Company B, 2nd Georgia Battalion. His diary, correspondence and military papers detail his service until 1864 when he was discharged because of chronic hepatitis. Also included are some materials of Van Giesen's son Frank S. Van Giesen, a broker and magistrate also of Savannah. Some materials in the collection relate to the Ancker family (the family of F.S. Van Giesen's wife, Carrie).

The correspondence contains letters written by Harry, Louis, and William to their mother and sister while the boys were living at the Jewish Orphanage Home in Atlanta, Georgia. Other correspondence consists of letters between Harry Scherman and Bernardine Kielty both before and after their marriage discussing family news and Sherman's work with the J. Walter Thompson Company selling books and magazines to stores, letters from Rita regarding her writings, and letters written to Rita by the Scherman family. Diaries, written by Rita, detail her stay in England with her grandparents, memoir-style entries regarding her early life, and describing a trip to England. The collection also contains materials relating to "Educational Playthings", an educational toy and furniture company, founded by Rita Scherman Berman.
