The collection consists of a requisition for salt, dated 20 October 1774 and signed by John Newdigate, Stephen Maddox, and Mordecai Sheftall (in frame); three issues of Georgia continental paper money ($4 and $5 Spanish milled and $5 Continental) for 1776 and 1777; late eighteenth century Masonic apron with hand-drawn illustrated cover belonging to Levi Sheftall, member of Solomon's Lodge, Savannah; newspaper account (Beaumont, Texas Journal, 3 March 1942) of three items and other Sheftall memorabilia and a Xerox of a biographical sketch of Cooper Sheftall. The Masonic apron is housed in the vault.

Long House, Waddell Street, in Athens; badge celebrating the 47th Annual Session of the Georgia Grand Lodge, Knights of Pythias meeting in Athens 17-18 May 1916; green glass grape from lamp in the Costa building; wooden shingle from the roof of the present Garden Club of Georgia Headquarters, formerly Phi Mu House and home of Mary Lyndon, first dean of women at the University of Georgia.

A. Honeywell by using her mouth; decorative paper work; three patterns for embroidery; and embroidered collar, lace and thread.

United Daughters of the Confederacy small oval framed painting of Confederate flags, 1900 ; 5. souvenir poster of the 44th annual reunion of the United Confederate Veterans ; 6. gavel made of native cedar given to the U.D.C. president general by the State of Arkansas ; 7. gavel made of wood from the home of Alexander H. Stephens and presented to the U.D.C by Robert R. Gunn with typed sheet stating these facts.

The collection consists of typescripts and notes made by researchers for the Works Progress Administration recording various Georgia historical data. Included are the following types of material: 1) transcripts of WPA survey of Federal Archives in Georgia, including Federal District Courts at Savannah and Augusta, various post offices, Custom's House, government warehouses, etc. ; 2) workers education reports, instructional guides, survey handbooks, clippings, and correspondence relating to the WPA activities in Georgia ; 3) life histories and reminiscences of World War I era and the Depression ; 4) Georgia educational institutions-- records and data sheets ; 5) Georgia bibliography survey. The Federal Archives transcripts include shipping records, patents, postal data, and detail repositories with condition and dispensation of material. Administrative papers and guidelines of WPA give background on the Georgia survey and show format and style of the study. Data sheets, historical background notes, and lists of alumni cover numerous Georgia educational institutions, many no longer extant. The Georgia bibliography survey contains hundreds of index cards with information about works on Georgia history and literature.

The collection also contains materials pertaining to business and legal activities of Rufus K. Reaves, Jr., as well as indentures and deeds. Also included are the related papers of George W. Center and the Edward Lilly estate.

The collection consists of two account books for the Athens Bobbin Mill and its predecessor the Athens Bobbin Works from November 1867 to December 1877 and April 1887 to December 1891. Volume one contains entries for customer or firm and includes the name, date, items purchased or ordered, and price. Additional entries pertain to wages paid employees and list name, number of days worked, and, in some cases, the amount paid. The first ledger also includes entries for letters received, answered, or sent and include the person's or firm's name, date, and address. Volume two includes entries recording employees, number of days worked, and taxes, charges for hauling services including name, amount, and size; and orders from customers or firms containing the name, date, items purchased or ordered, and price.

A volume of pasted clippings on Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and national history. It includes some of the sketches of Athens, 1865-1875, which were printed in the local paper by A. L. Hill, who later published them as Annals of Athens. There are other articles, some by George G. Smith on early Georgia history, much about the Revolution and national history, includes a list of prisoners kept in Fort at St. Augustine by British in 1780, rolls of soldiers, 1775, from South Carolina, and some articles concerning early Baptists.

The letter concerns the purchase of 250 horse artillery sabre belts, 250 holsters and 150 horse artillery sabres. It also contains personal mention of Mrs. Campbell and her small child who are visiting with the Browns, relaying her messages to her husband.

The collection consists of the papers of the Baber, Blackshear, and Baber-Blackshear families from 1796-1939 and includes correspondence, journals, ledgers, news clippings, invitations, programs, speeches, and newspapers. The early part of the collection relates to Dr. Ambrose Baber and contains information on the 1802 William Hunter-David Mitchell duel (Savannah, Ga.); Baber's term as Charge'd Affaires to Sardinia, including correspondence from John MacPherson Berrien (1842-1844); and the establishment of the Montpelier Institute in Monroe County, Georgia. The bulk of the collection falls after 1846. It contains correspondence and journals of George Francis Burleigh Baber during his naval service on the John Adams, Germantown, Dale, and Porpoise. Also included is Civil War correspondence consisting of letters from Joseph William Blackshear of Jackson's Artillery from Camp Brown, St. Simons Island, Georgia, as well as George Dunbar Sweet Smith, who served in South Carolina and Virginia. The remainder of the collection consists of personal correspondence between Marion and William Blackshear; their children Ella, Paul, Birdie, and Minnie Baber-Blackshear; relatives; and friends.

One volume of morning reports of the 1st Georgia Militia Regiment of the Confederate States of America Army, commanded by Colonel Edward M. Galt, from February 25 - December 8, 1863. The inside cover lists the officers in the unit. Beginning entries place company in Savannah, Georgia then later in Etowah, Camp Foster and give the troops strength. Written on the front of the volume is the inscription "This book was captured at the Battle of Jonesboro, Ga. Augt. 31st, 1864. We made the Rebels Dust."
