The gifts include plaques, keys to various U.S. cities, buttons and pins, textiles and clothes, wood carvings, statuettes, banners, wallhangings, and shovels from the Global Village groundbreaking. Also included are commemorative t-shirts documenting builds all over the world dating from the 1980s to 2005. The t-shirts document the Jimmy Carter Work Project, collegiate builds, women's builds, charitable walks, and blitz builds.

The collection consists of correspondence, financial papers, photographs, speeches and writings, and printed material arranged in alphabetical order by name or subject. Although the bulk of the material concerns Caldwell's career, some are paersonal and family papers and consist of correspondence with his parents, his brother Alvin, and various aunts, uncles and cousins, including Hattie Dunlop who apparently suffered from paranoia. The farm papers deal with a house and land in Meriwether County that had been in the Caldwell family for many years. Caldwell took it over in 1940, made many improvements, and considered it his legal residence. Boxes 48-50 contain Caldwell's personal financial papers. Of special interest are the Board of Regents papers; Walter Cocking controversy, Ty Cobb and the Cobb Educational Foundation; Berry College papers; the Wallace Butts football scandal; and the papers of the colleges and universities in the University System of Georgia with their various achievements or problems. Correspondents include Omer Clyde Aderhold, Walter Blackstock, Callaway family (Pine Mountain, Ga.), Lamar Dodd, Stewart Gelders, Hodgson family (Athens, Ga.), Joseph Winthrop Holley, John Alton Hosch, Lucy Stanley MacArthur, Moina Michael, Jonathan Clark Rogers, Steadman Vincent Sanford, Hughes Spalding, and Herman Talmadge.

Of special interest is a film Friend shot in 1958 of the a two day seminar held at the Highlander Folk School in Monteagle, Tennessee, which was attended by Martin Luther King, Jr, Rosa Parks and others. The collection also contains personal files with images and articles about his life.

The collection consists of personal and business correspondence, legal papers, writings, letterbooks, and other miscellaneous items. The bulk of this material deals with family lawsuits concerning the estates of Joseph E. Brown (father of Joseph M.) and Julius L. Brown (brother of Joseph M.). Box 1 includes letters written by Joseph M. Brown (1909-1926, mainly drafts and typescripts) Theodore Roosevelt, Hoke Smith,S. V. Sanfor, and Thomas Watson. Also in this box are a few of Brown's writings on military history of the Civil War, as well as his views on labor unions. Box 2 consists of legal documents and correspondence to and from other people, including other Brown family members. Boxes 3 and 4 contain letterbooks of Julius L. Brown and cover the periods 1894-1895 and 1908-1910.

Included are numerous articles that he summited to the Associated Press (AP) while covering Asia during the mid-1960s along with general interest stories about the U.S. written for the AP during the 1980s to 2000s. There is information about various newspapers around the country, their daily workings and the owners of these papers. There are also documents (1977-2011) related to the classes that Fink taught and the speeches that he presented along with galleys, reviews and other materials connected to books that he authored.
