The collection consists of the last will and testament of James Pate Sr. of Fayette County, Georgia. Pate divides his estate amongst his wife, Cathy and his children John, Thomas, James, Charles, William, and Seaborn, as well as his son-in-law Squire Posey for the care of his daughter Phoebe Yancey and his other daughters, Frankey Harrison and Ellinney Bland. The will stipulates that all property is to be divided into equal shares amongst the children after his wife has received five dollars, his son James has received three cows, calves and a bed and furniture, and Thomas his son has also received three cows, calves, a bed and furniture.

The collection consists of the last will and testament of John Vason of Morgan County, Georgia, a complex document dividing the estate evenly amongst his wife, Rebecca and the children, Nancy Vason Woods, Eliza Vason Hemphill, William Vason, Pope Vason, Emily Owens Vason, David A. Vason and John Vason, after a series of delineated charges has been deducted from the estate. The will directs his wife "to choose such of negroes, stock of horses, cattle, hogs, &c. &c. provisions of all kinds on hand at the time of my death"

Athens businesses represented include: Auto and carriage shops, blacksmith shops, clothing stores, cotton mills, doctors, drug stores, dry good stores, electrical companies, furniture companies, grocery stores, jewelry stores, hardware stores, lumber companies, plumbing companies, roofing companies, shoe stores and undertakers. Also included are four letters and a copy of a will from the Long family, 1933-1946, and a notebook with an English translation, by Dupree Hunnicutt, from a Latin play.

The collection consists of a diary, letters, photographs, receipts, writings, scrapbooks, legal documents and other material. The letters (1871-1905) refer to both family and business matters. The diary (1879-1883) was kept by Hill and his wife Sallie. One of the scrapbooks concerns prohibition and the other includes material about George R. Barker. The collection also includes a will of Catlett Campbell and other legal documents regarding him.

This collection contains the papers of the McDowell, Talmadge, Lipscomb, and Rutherford families including correspondence, ledgers, Civil War documents, and a will related to the McDowell family and Clovis Talmadge; the diary of a Union soldier; clippings; and photographs related to the Lipscomb and Rutherford families. The bulk of the collection is comprised of the correspondence of Georgia McDowell Talmadge and her husband Clovis Talmadge during and immediately following the Civil War. Transcriptions of the almost all of the correspondence and the will are included.
