Lt. Jim Ruska writes to David P. Luthi, his friend, fraternity brother and former member of the Corps of Cadets from the University
of North Georgia, about the living conditions and experiences of American soldiers during the Vietnam War (1955-1975). Ruska
describes how his fellow soldiers feel about the war, its causes, and alludes to the dynamic between enlisted and or drafted
soldiers and officers. He also discusses the difference in living conditions amongst Marines, Army infantrymen and Air Force
Privates, the Army of the Republic of Vietnam, and his battalion's role in Operation Durham Peak.
