In 1942 during the early stages of World War II, Walter S. Brown, Director of the Georgia Cooperative Extension at the University
of Georgia, sent out a letter stating "we are anxious to keep in close touch with all Extension Workers in the armed forces...
I am asking you to send me your present address... [and] I would apprreciate your writing us a few paragraphs telling us of
your particular duties and anything you think the other Extension men in the service and at home would like to hear about
you.. We plan to send a letter regularly to every man in the service telling him something of what we are trying to do back
home and of what all of your are doing for Victory in the armed forces."
The Walter S. Brown Scrapbook of World War II containes a compilation of the newsletters sent out by Brown and the responses
he received from the servicemen and women during the course of the war. Brown's newsletters are dated October 6, 1942 to
November 29, 1944 and the letters sent to Mr. Brown date from 1942 to 1945. The newsletters detail activities taking place
here at UGA while the letters make reference to the various countries where the servicemen were stationed as well as observations
of personal activites and,in some instances, the countries' agricultural land, products and methods.

women and girls.

America's aging population.

The Talmadge C. DuVall Papers is comprised of papers, photographs, and audiovisual materials which document the career of
Tal DuVall as an extension agent and then later on as a director for the Cooperative Extension Service at the University of
Georgia. The papers also document his career as a Commissioner for the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government. DuVall became
a part of the Cooperative Extension Service in 1956 as a county agent for Carrollton, Georgia. In 1965, he became the county
agent for Clarke County and eventually rose to the position of district and then university extension agent. This collection
is comprised of papers, photographs, and audiovisual material related to DuVall's careers in Cooperative Extension and the
Athens-Clarke County Unification Commission.

This collection consists of architectural drawings created for classes while Walter S. Brown was a student in UGA's School
of Agriculture. The drawings from 1913 feature geometric drawings and the 1914 drawing is an illustrated survey of the UGA
campus. The 1916 drawings are architectural plans for a bungalow and a "combination barn." There is also a program from the
1983 ceremony posthumously inducting Walter S. Brown into the University of Georgia Agricultural Alumni Association's Hall
of Fame.

The Anne L. Sweaney collection consists of materials from her career with the College of Family and Consumer Sciences' Home
and Consumer Economics department. The collection has manuscripts that she wrote on topics ranging from low income housing
to the quality of life for older adults. There are records of Sweaney's research including the SMART HOUSE studies (1988
through 1991) and her work on various Southern Regional Projects (1970s-1990s). Other documents relate to her teaching (1981-2012),
serving as head of the HACE department (2004-2012) and as Interim Dean of FACS (2010-2011). Also included is information about
conferences that she attended and presented at along with grants that went toward funding her numerous studies and research
projects. In addition, there is material from her service on the Athletic Association's Board of Directors.
