The collection is comprised of interviews with current and former faculty members and deans of the College of Family and Consumer
Sciences. Participants discuss topics including the history of home economics and human ecology, the evolution of the discipline
and its acceptance and application over the past century, as well as its outlook for the future. Participants also talk about
curriculum development, experiential learning initiatives and internships, and interdisciplinary partnerships with other colleges
on campus. Also discussed is the 1990 name change from the College of Home Economics to the College of Family and Consumer
Sciences.

This collection consists of two letters of correspondence between U.S. Senator Walter F. George of Georgia and Ernest A. Lowe,
the director of the Division of General Extension at the University of Georgia from 1947 to 1958. The correspondence, written
in September 1950, concerns an invitation to George to attend a conference at the University of Georgia on the problems of
America's aging population.

The Talmadge C. DuVall Papers is comprised of papers, photographs, and audiovisual materials which document the career of
Tal DuVall as an extension agent and then later on as a director for the Cooperative Extension Service at the University of
Georgia. The papers also document his career as a Commissioner for the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government. DuVall became
a part of the Cooperative Extension Service in 1956 as a county agent for Carrollton, Georgia. In 1965, he became the county
agent for Clarke County and eventually rose to the position of district and then university extension agent. This collection
is comprised of papers, photographs, and audiovisual material related to DuVall's careers in Cooperative Extension and the
Athens-Clarke County Unification Commission.

The collection is comprised primarily of papers which document the personal and professional life of J. W. Fanning, former
Vice President of Services at the University of Georgia and namesake of the Fanning Institute located at the University of
Georgia. The collection includes photocopies of Fanning's Bible study notes, The Business of Farming: Problems and Exercises
in Determining Profits, Planning Operations, and Keeping Records written by Fanning, and a Fanning Institute fan with images
of Dr. Fanning and Cora Lee Fanning. Also included in this collection are two scrapbooks compiled by Fanning's family with
photographs, clippings, correspondence, speeches, and program material documenting Fanning's life and career.
