The collection consists of two diaries of Abram Rinker from 1863-1864. Rinker was stationed in Beaufort, Morris, James, and Folly Islands, South Carolina; and Ft. Strong, North Carolina. Diary entries discuss Rinker's health, the weather, camp life (drills, guard duty, foraging for food, and officers), bombardments and shelling along the coast, and ship movements.
