Eldridge and his wife, Emma, while he served as a surgeon with the 16th Georgia Infantry Regiment and later with Cobb's Legion from 1861-1865. His letters tell of his duties, provide descriptions of battles, and document his health. Emma's letters discuss family and political issues. Also included are fifty-seven photocopies of letters, nineteen loose envelopes, and two photographs of the Eldridges.
