The collection consists of oral histories of members of Congregation Children of Israel, Athens, Georgia, recorded 2001-2004. There are folders for each person interviewed, a signed consent form, along with a printed transcript of the interview. Some folders contain photographs of the person interviewed, photocopies of newspaper articles, or typewritten notes about the individual; and a written history. Interviewees talk about experiences of being Jewish in America, social conditions, peace for Israel, and temple affiliation. The final folder contains the oral history questionnaire used by Burt Sparer while conducting interviews, and the list of congregants who contributed oral histories.

Also included is a typewritten letter (dated February 22, 1971) from F.C. Caldwell, explaining the transcript and the Oral History Program established by the United States Marine Corps.

Bell, Forsyth County, Georgia; William Bell, Forsyth County, Georgia; and Mollie Bradley. Correspondence concerns health of family members, marriages, deaths, the war (fear of the ongoing fighting, firing in Atlanta, the Roswell Factory, hearing cannons in Ringgold and Tunnel Hill, prisoners), illnesses (including smallpox and measles), and crops (including cotton, wheat, and corn). The collection also includes a handwritten will and testament of John J.N. Kenney, an envelope postmarked 1881, family tree of Eliza Frances Bradley Kenney, and a page from the Kenney family bible.

This collection mostly consists of University of Georgia academic related material dating from the 19th century through 1945 but does hold a few records dating to 1978. Some academic items include recordbooks (grade reports and class records), graduation information, correspondence, application and transferral forms along with material related to various student organizations. Among the artifacts are such things as a time capsule dating from 1872. Some items of particular interest are two tuition books dating from 1821 to 1826 and 1838 to 1850. There also are 1932-1938 records from the Coordinate College and a large number of student reports from 1905 through 1916 (grades, correspondence, etc.) relating to Charles Mercer Snelling's time as a professor and dean at the University.

The collection consists of typescripts and notes made by researchers for the Works Progress Administration recording various Georgia historical data. Included are the following types of material: 1) transcripts of WPA survey of Federal Archives in Georgia, including Federal District Courts at Savannah and Augusta, various post offices, Custom's House, government warehouses, etc. ; 2) workers education reports, instructional guides, survey handbooks, clippings, and correspondence relating to the WPA activities in Georgia ; 3) life histories and reminiscences of World War I era and the Depression ; 4) Georgia educational institutions-- records and data sheets ; 5) Georgia bibliography survey. The Federal Archives transcripts include shipping records, patents, postal data, and detail repositories with condition and dispensation of material. Administrative papers and guidelines of WPA give background on the Georgia survey and show format and style of the study. Data sheets, historical background notes, and lists of alumni cover numerous Georgia educational institutions, many no longer extant. The Georgia bibliography survey contains hundreds of index cards with information about works on Georgia history and literature.

The collection consists of copies of documents, textual and audio, accumulated during Thomas M. West's successful challenge - in the case of Timothy Dawson vs. The State of Georgia - to the state of Georgia's law prescribing death by electrocution in the electric chair in death penalty cases. This includes fifteen digital copies of 22 Georgia electrocutions of prisoners between 1983 and 1996. These recordings are copies of West's tapes which were themselves dubs of original tapes recorded by members of the state's Department of Corrections for their own records, and later subpoenaed and entered into state court records as part of challenges to the electric chair statute. In addition, the collection includes copies of materials (transcripts, documents, affidavits, autopsy records, etc.) West and his co-counsel Robert Citronberg had accumulated to date of donation (August 2004) in support of legal challenges to the Georgia statute prescribing lethal injection as the new means of state execution.

The collection includes papers found among the papers of J. Aubrey Smith (collection UGA 08-007) which were transferred from the University of Georgia Walter J. Brown Media Archive to the University Archives in 2008. Harry Brown recorded an account of his life and career, aided by his friends, Rosslyn Smith and her husband, University of Georgia Agricultural Extension film maker, J. Aubrey Smith. Judging from a note enclosed with the tape cassettes, it appears that Ms. Smith interviewed Brown and used the lengthy taped interview to develop the typed text for his approval. Brown covers events in his life and his perspective on agricultural life in the first half of the 20th century. He also discusses the operations of the many government operations in which he played a role. In addition to a finished manuscript of his memoir, this collection includes early drafts and outlines, notes, correspondence and both tapes of the interview with Brown and a transcript of the tapes.

The collection consists of correspondence, genealogical information, writings, financial papers, printed material, scrapbooks, photographs, deeds, and transcripts and copies of historical documents. Much of the Craig Barrow correspondence deals with his involvement with the Savannah Boxing Commission, Savannah Golf Club, Central of Georgia Railway, and the University of Georgia Alumni Society. The family correspondence contains letters regarding the Barrow property called the Home Place in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. There is much emphasis on Savannah, the Wormsloe estate, and Georgia history in both printed material and photographs. A large section of the financial papers concerns the real estate owned by the Barrows in Savannah and details the sale, rental, and management of the properties.
