The collection consists of correspondence of the Diamond family of DeKalb County, Georgia and Rusk or Grayson County, Texas from 1831-1891. Topics discussed include family members' migration to Texas, descriptions of life before and after the Civil War, an 1867 yellow fever epidemic in Texas and the resulting deaths of several family members, weather, crops, the health of family members, proposed visits between the families, and religion. The majority of the correspondence is written by Diamond family members living in either Henderson, Rusk County, Texas or Grayson County, Texas.
