Collection consists of one letter written by Charles J. Oliver, a chaplain in the Confederate army, to his mother from his
station in Raccoon Ford, Virginia. Although undated, the letter is believed to be from 1864 because this was the only time
during the Civil War that the Troup Artillery was stationed at Raccoon Ford. In the letter, Oliver writes about missing home,
daily activities, and the his duties as chaplain of his unit.
