The muster roll lists the name and rank of each of the 38 members of the unit and specifies their status, absent or present, during the parade. It also contains an inventory of the uniform and equipment each member used during the parade.

The collection consists of correspondence of Loran Alonzo Dowling, a Marine during World War I, to his mother, Vannit Dowling. The letters were written from the Marine training camp at Paris Island (S.C.), then from France, Belgium, Luxemburg, and Germany during his military service. The letters mainly discuss family and friends in Georgia, but also contain information on Dowling's duties as a runner carrying messages between units, trench warfare, being gassed, the people's reactions to American soldiers, and the battle of Saint-Mihiel (France) in 1918.

Letters written from the Pacific Theater discuss the Philippines, especially Manila and Leyte, and Japan. Letters include descriptions of the area, the people, camp life, and typhoons; and regard Japanese prisoners of war and independence of the Philippines. Post war letters regard Bennett's duties of processing troops in and out of the area and teaching classes for the army.
