This collection contains a ledger of laborers hired to work for the 1st Division Quartermasters, compiled by Captain Keating Simons, Jr. serving as Acting Commisary General of Subsistence. Names, occupations, compensation and pay are noted. Included are Federal prisoners who have taken the oath, named as George Holland, John Smith, James Redmond, Dominick Kelly; and Freedmen named Richmond, Zachariah, Ezekiel, and James. Enslaved people are listed as well as their owners, including Julius, cattle driver (E.C. Keckerly); Daniel, butcher (D.H. Silcox); George, cooper (K.L. Simons), Paul, cattle boy (Mrs. Gadsden); Joe, laborer (Mrs. Mays); Aaron, laborer (Joshua Ward); Dock, laborer (Mrs. McPherson); Ben, butcher (J.W. Harrison); Robert, butcher (W.L. Webb); and Porter, laborer (J.A. Enslow).
