The collection consists of correspondence concerning the re-publication of The Merit and Reward of a Good Intention, a sermon
preached by William Best, D. D., before the Honourable Trustees of the Colony of Georgia in 1742. The book as reprinted contains
an introduction by Phinizy Spalding, engravings and a map of the period. The collection includes many letters from William
Haynes of the Ashantilly Press, as well as letters from other correspondents. The book was a winner in the 1968 Southern Books
Competition.

This photograph collection consists of family albums from the early 1880s to the 1890s, containing mostly gelatin type prints.
There are also a few ferrotypes. Most of the albums contains pictures of women, men, and children. Two of the albums contain
reprints of National Archives negatives taken during the Civil War, including pictures of battle fields and of destruction
in Georgia, and one album is a collection of pictures of Civil War generals, including an index for reference.

The collection consists of research notes amassed for the publication of Krakow's book, "Georgia Place-Names," published in
1975. This book contains small but detailed explanations about the origins of place-names in Georgia. The notecards contained
in the collection's boxes are drafts of the explanations with revision and research. The collection also contains an unpublished
manuscript entitled, "Derivations of Place Names in Georgia," a class paper Krakow completed in 1969.

The collection consists of three subscription lists for orders of [reprints of] Congressional speeches to be printed at the
Congressional Globe Office: undated (circa 1850), the first order is for 1,500 copies of the speech delivered by Alexander
Stephens on the President's message; second order is for 5,000 copies of the speech of Hon. Noah Davis of the state of New
York, on Georgia Bill, delivered in the House of Representatives, March 7, 1870, some of the subscribers' names including
Noah Davis and W. Townsend; and the third order is for 1,800 copies of the speech of Hon. John S. Bigby, of the state of Georgia,
on Congressional reconstruction – Georgia politics, delivered in the House of Representatives, February 24, 1872, subscribers'
names including John S. Bigby and Charles M. Turner.
