The collection consists of one ledger that details store account sales, freedmen's contracts for labor, and records of Rice's brandy and whiskey production and sales. There are several loose papers that include a record of goods sold to freedman Boney Brown as well as Rice's 1863 quarterly taxes paid on 335 gallons of brandy.

The collection consists mainly of correspondence between Daniel de Bruce Hack Sr. and family and friends. Business correspondences regard Hack's involvement in the Richmond Factory (Augusta, Georgia). Also included are letters in the 1840's from William Schley, Philip Schley, and Dr. Edward Eve of Augusta, Georgia; a few Civil War letters; and the reproduction of a letter from Daniel de Bruce Hack to his cousin William Hack, regarding Sherman's March. The collection contains receipts (for taxes, purchase of slaves, etc.); a reproduction of Hack's amnesty oath; and one unidentified photograph (possibly the Richmond Factory). The first item in the collection is genealogy of the Hack family.

The collection consists of two letters (with transcripts): dated Clark County, June 1858, "Dear Cousin," the first letter is almost illegible; dated April 9, 1861, "Dear Father and," signed "Virginia A. Holliday," regarding family news and deaths. The collection also includes numerous receipted tax receipts and bills (1915-1917) from Athens firms for goods sold to Howell P. and Lula Betts. Of particular interest is a receipted mortgage dated December 1916, for property described as "part of the old Gilleland place located in Clarke County, Georgia," rented to Betts by Mattie Whitehead.

Receipt of Seaborn Jones to Matthew McAllister for $25,000 "in bank bill, which the Honourable James Wilson hath placed in his & my hands ..." - dated November 20, 1794; 4.
