One volume of morning reports of the 1st Georgia Militia Regiment of the Confederate States of America Army, commanded by
Colonel Edward M. Galt, from February 25 - December 8, 1863. The inside cover lists the officers in the unit. Beginning entries
place company in Savannah, Georgia then later in Etowah, Camp Foster and give the troops strength. Written on the front of
the volume is the inscription "This book was captured at the Battle of Jonesboro, Ga. Augt. 31st, 1864. We made the Rebels
Dust."

sugar, vinegar, and whiskey.

Contents: |
A notebook of Captain Henry H. Carlton from 1860-circa 1880s. The notebook begins in 1860 as L. C. Cooper's notebook while
a student at Franklin College (University of Georgia, Athens) and contains several literary pieces copied by Cooper. In 1861,
Captain H. H. Carlton used the book to record the list of soldiers who served in the Troup Artillery during the Civil War.
After the war someone, probably Edwin D. Newton, Secretary of the Survivors Association of Confederate Veterans of Northeast
Georgia, added place of residence, death dates, and other data to the list. The notebook contains a mixture of various notes
and includes material on Carlton's Company.

The M.H. Mitchell, Inc 94th Infantry Divisoin Collection consists of original World War II correspondence; 94th Division Association
minute books, financial papers, organization records, and member lists; printed materials including reunion prograpms, divisional
histories, newsletters, and manuals; scrapbooks; photographs; artifacts including medals, ephemera, flags, and uniforms; and
subject files.
A large portion is dedicated to the 94th Infantry Commemorative History book and the 94th Infantry Division Association. Much
of the collection revolves around veterans' activities. This series contains correspondence reflecting on World War II and
the 94th. Folders often include obituaries and memorials about 94th veterans. The vast majority are letters are from the 1980s-1990s
to Robert Cassel regarding his upcoming book about the 94th Infantry in World War II.
The writings series contain mostly memoirs of 94th Infantry soldiers after their World War II service. There are a few collected
anecdotes from Cassel's book and several compliations of veterans' memoirs from their infantry service. There is a large subseries
related to the book, "Patton's Ghost Corps" by Nathan Prefer. This includes a sizeable amount of Prefer's original research
material.
The media series is housed in the Walter J. Brown Media Archives. The items include an extensive number of videotapes and
DVDs, focusing on reunions, the 94th Division's overseas campaigns, and veterans.

The Alexander S. Clay Papers is one of the earliest collections of Congressional papers held by the Russell Library and documents
the beginnings of modern, federal policy-making in the twentieth century. The collection consists of correspondence between
Senator Clay and his constituents, government officials and public servants, members of his family, and others between 1900
and 1914. Most of the letters are incoming correspondence. Topics discussed in the correspondence include the appointment
of postmasters and other civil servants, nominations for students seeking admission to the United States Military Academy
(West Point) and Naval Academy (Annapolis), tariffs and international trade legislation, the opening of the Panama Canal,
U.S. Supreme Court cases and justice appointments, women's suffrage, Prohibition, Georgia gubernatorial elections, the 1908
presidential election, expansion of rural postal delivery service, relations between the United States and the Philippines,
and the 1910 federal census. Also included in the collection are letters received after Clay's death, a photograph, postage
stamps, and U.S. Army records from the 31st Regiment of the Georgia Volunteer Infantry (which Clay's son, Frank Butner Clay,
served in as a captain) that were collected by the Clay family.

The collection consists of clippings from Knox's personal scrapbook, affidavits, letters, manuscript speeches, military documents,
and other material. The speeches were likely written during the time he was a teacher in Mississippi, prior to the Civil War.
Of particular interest are also two speeches he gave at the Knox Institute (a Freedmen's school named after him) in Athens,
Georgia. Also included are materials relating to Knox's family, including letters (many addressed to Clarkston, Michigan),
an account book, and photographs.
