The collection also includes an old stove catalog used as a scrapbook, created by Susan Kinner Courtright, and five photographs.
Three photographs depict warships of the Spanish-American War period; one photograph portrays five engines wrecked in Sussex
County, N.Y. during the Blizzard of 1888; and a final photograph is a group shot of H.A.A. Football players in 1895.

The collection consists of photographs of family members and military friends of Frederick W. Benteen. His commission paper
is included as well. It is dated 1864 November 23 and commissions him to brigadier general. Also includes is a bound, gilt-edged
album of religious pictures; the folded American flag that draped the coffin of Mrs. Anita Benteen Mitchell), Benteen's graddaughter,
in 1978; and a tattered American flag that appears to be a 10th Missouri Cavalry flag, flown during the Civil War and was
donated after the initial gift in 1973.

The collection consists of personal and business correspondence, legal papers, writings, letterbooks, and other miscellaneous
items. The bulk of this material deals with family lawsuits concerning the estates of Joseph E. Brown (father of Joseph M.)
and Julius L. Brown (brother of Joseph M.). Box 1 includes letters written by Joseph M. Brown (1909-1926, mainly drafts and
typescripts) Theodore Roosevelt, Hoke Smith,S. V. Sanfor, and Thomas Watson. Also in this box are a few of Brown's writings
on military history of the Civil War, as well as his views on labor unions. Box 2 consists of legal documents and correspondence
to and from other people, including other Brown family members. Boxes 3 and 4 contain letterbooks of Julius L. Brown and
cover the periods 1894-1895 and 1908-1910.
