The collection consists of two documents pertaining to the settlement of coastal Georgia. The crown land grant to Alexander Wylly gives him "two small islands of marsh situate and being in the river Savannah between Onslow Island and Argyle Island in the parish of Christ Church." It is signed by James Wright as governor, Charles Watson as secretary, and Henry Yonge as surveyor general; the document includes the plat drawn by deputy surveyor B. Romant, and is dated 1 December 1767. The second document is a loyal indenture on transfer of land between Richard and Mary Wylly and Basil Cowper of Savannah. This piece, legible but quite fragile, is dated 23 June 1775.

The collection consists of papers of the Thomas Jones family of Thomas County, Georgia from 1819-1889. Thomas Jones' papers include lists of taxable property (slaves, land, livestock, and equipment); indentures; and receipts for the purchase of slaves (names of enslaved people include Adam, a carpenter, Charles, Randal, John, Betsy, Nancy, Abram, Ann, Eliza, Sam, Ned, Bob, Lucy, Cherry, Nelson, Charlott, Robert, Lindy, and Mary). Letters are from Henry Francis Jones to his sister, and between Edwin T. Davis and Mattie Davis; and regard battles, military strategy, and military life. Papers of E.T. Davis concern Davis's military services, and include diary entries with regard to his service with the Dixie Boys of Company A, 57th Georgia Infantry Regiment. The collection also includes plats, indentures, and writs regarding land in Georgia, mainly Irwin and Thomas counties, and a portrait of Thomas Jones.

The collection consists of personal and business papers of the Cobb, Erwin, and Lamar families from 1796-1929. Early records deal mainly with the Zachariah Lamar family and include deeds, bonds, land grants, receipts, slave bills of sale, and correspondence. The period 1811-1928 covers the Lamar, Cobb, and Erwin families and contains correspondence, both business and personal; bills; receipts; invitations; legal papers; telegrams; tax notices; postcards; case books; letterbooks; scrapbooks; account books; photographs; and genealogical and biographical information pertaining to the Cobb, Erwin, and Lamar families. Also includes information on the law practice and legal firms of the Cobb and Erwin families. Of particular interest are Howell Cobb's order books for the 16th Georgia Infantry Regiment (Cobb's Brigade). The collection includes correspondence and material relating to the following family members: Zachariah Lamar, Howell Cobb, Mary Ann Lamar Cobb, John Addison Cobb, Sarah Robinson Rootes Cobb, Mary Ann Lamar Cobb Erwin, and Alexander S.
