and Georgia Historical Society. Correspondence chiefly concerns the merger of the Georgia Historical Association with the
Georgia Historical Society, and Georgia Historical Quarterly. Correspondents include A. R. Lawton, Andrew J. Cobb, Otis Ashmore,
Charles Edgeworth Jones, Alfred Newell, Percy Flippin, Lucien Lamar Knight, and E. Merton Coulter.
The collection also contains the Georgia Historical Association and Georgia Historical Society merger agreement, financial
statements and ledgers of Robert Preston Brooks and the Georgia Historical Association, meeting minutes, and lists of members
of the Georgia Historical Society.

The collection consists of papers of the George Wymberley Jones De Renne family of Savannah, Georgia from 1732-1939. The
papers include account books, correspondence, deeds, genealogical materials, indentures, inventories, land grants, legal documents,
newspaper clippings, printed material, and transcripts of historical documents pertaining to Georgia history. The materials
document the activities of the De Renne family and contain information on land transactions in Georgia; estate or plantation
management, particularly Wormsloe Plantation (Savannah, Ga.) and Popular Grove; the Buena Ventura Stock Company and Buena
Ventura Ranch (1883-1884) in Tom Green County (Tex.); book and wine purchases for Wormsloe; and the De Rennes' involvement
in the Georgia Historical Society and the Georgia Bicentennial (1933).
The collection also contains correspondence and other materials pertaining to the George W. Smith family, the Campbell and
Stewart families, and accounts and correspondence (1867-1880) with Thomas A. Biddle & Company (Philadelphia, Pa.). Other
correspondents include Letitia De Renne, Wymberley Jones De Renne, Wymberley Wormsloe De Renne, William Drayton, George Jones,
Inigo Jones, Noble Wymberley Jones, Alva Konkle, Mary Wallace Savage Nuttall, and Julianna Smith.

The collection consists of the papers of William Harden and the Harden family of Savannah, Georgia from 1826-1936. The papers
include correspondence, legal documents, genealogical materials, clippings, as well as speeches and writings of William Harden.
The bulk of the collection (1844-1936) consists of correspondence to William Harden or Judge Edward J. Harden. Letters to
William Harden pertain to Georgia history and family genealogy as well as letters documenting Harden's duties as Secretary
of the Sons of the Revolution (Savannah, Ga.) and as Librarian for the Georgia Historical Society (Savannah, Ga.). Correspondence
to Judge Edward Jenkins Harden discusses Georgia politics and law cases. Notable correspondents include Joseph Henry Lumpkin,
Charles Colcock Jones, Jr., and Caroline Miller. Also includes correspondence of other family members including John Maxwell
Harden, Edward T. Harden, and Ann Harden Morse. Of particular interest, are a series of letters (1826-1857, with gaps) from
George Michael Troup to Dr. W.C. Daniels of Savannah (Ga.). Writing from Milledgeville (Ga.) and Washington (D.C.), Troup's
letters discuss Georgia and U.S. politics, state rights, Georgia land surveys, public education, tariffs, the nullification
issue, and Indian affairs.

The collection consists of the bound manuscript volumes written by Charles Colcock Jones, Jr., noted Georgia historian and
literary figure. Several of the volumes are extra illustrated by Jones. These writings form much of the corpus of Jones' published
works and are, for the most part, the author's own final manuscript copies, although there are some corrections and annotations.
