The collection consists of a diary kept by Alphonse Bloemer while serving in World War I, from January 14, 1918-November 19, 1918. Bloemer writes about his trip from Camp MacArthur, Texas to New Jersey, to Brest, France; and building barracks, stables, hospitals, and roads. A few entries regard shell shock cases and men killed in battle. The collection also contains two photographs of the soldiers of Company B, 107th Engineers. The collection consists of a diary of Charles Wood. Early entries relate to Wood's activities as a law student and his political views. Entries in 1861 describe his journey from Richmond, Virginia to Tallahassee, Florida after being assigned as aide-de-camp to General John B. Grayson, who was Commander of the Dept. of East Florida. Wood describes the various towns he traveled through and upon arriving in Tallahassee, the illness and death of General Grayson. In 1863, he writes a short entry discussing the war's impact on his personal philosophy. The volume also contains personal financial accounts from 1868-1869.

The collection consists of papers tracing theater life of the Smedley family from 1898-1919. In his diary, Edwin A. Smedley writes about time spent in New York and Providence. New York entries regard interviews, agents, looking for work, rehearsals at Carnegie Hall, Amateur Night, C.S. Church, and several visitors. Entries from Providence regard family activities, relaxation, spending time on the beach and boat, and ball games. Most entries begin with a weather update, and the final pages include addresses of friends and family members, and travel and performance schedules. Journal B contains several newspaper clippings regarding Ellis Smedley, Edwin Smedley, Kate Douglas Wiggin, Mabel Tailaferro, Edith Taliaferro, Archie Boyd, the Smedley Sketch Club, and Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. The collection also includes some photographs, The Little mother script by Katherine Stagg, broadsides, programs, and memorabilia from the theater.
