The papers of Sam P. Jones includes correspondence mostly from 1863 to 1907; writings, sermons, lectures; and diaries, journals,
and notebooks. The correspondence contains mainly letters requesting Reverend Jones to speak and remarks of individuals who
had attended a sermon or lecture. The writings, sermons and lectures relate to his work in promoting prohibition. The diaries
and journals (1892-1923) were kept mainly by his wife, Laura McElwain Jones, and document her social and daily activities
in Cartersville, Georgia.

correspondence, bills, a diary, indentures, lands grants, legal documents, and maps. The bulk of the correspondence is to
Joseph Henry Lumpkin (1820-1856) discussing politics, the 1840 presidential election, the Wilmont Proviso (dealing with slavery),
legal cases, law practice, and Lumpkin's appointments. Major correspondents include John MacPherson Berrien, Howell Cobb,
Ebenezer Staines, and Hiram Warner. The diary was written by Mary B. Thomas, a school girl in Forsyth, Georgia, who later
married Edwin King Lumpkin. Written from June - August 1873, Thomas describes her friends, school, social and family life.
The collection also contains bills, receipts, and correspondence relating to Colonel Thomas Carr, an ancestor of Lumpkin.
The correspondence (1773-1837) describes the Louisiana territory, Saint Louis (Mo.), the War of 1812, politics, and family
news.

to Black's involvement in various organizations and in her stock farm. Includes records (1905-1928) relating to Black's position
as secretary of the Women's Auxiliary of the Atlanta Archdeaconry of the Episcopal Church; programs (1906-1907, 1909-1911)
of the Every Saturday Club (Atlanta, Ga.), a literary society; a scrapbook (1898-1911) containing correspondence, accounts,
and newspaper clippings relating to her involvement in the Atlanta Free Kindergarten Association; and a scrapbook (1914-1915)
documenting her role in establishing agricultural rallies through the Georgia Federation of Women's Clubs. Other materials
relating to Black include diaries of a trip to Mexico (1875) and two European tours (1904, 1906); speeches, newspaper clippings,
and an extensive collection of photographs of the Peters and Black families.
The papers include the manuscript and galley proofs of the reminiscences of her father, Richard Peters; some correspondence
of her husband George R. Black; and account books (1897-1916) of the Richard Peters Stock Farm (Calhoun, Gordon County, Ga.).
Also includes papers of her daughter Nita Black Rucker (1900-1940) mainly family correspondence and Rucker's writings about
Cora Harris and Nellie Black Peters.

The collection consists of correspondence, a diary, writings, and other papers of Robert G. Stone, who was a Confederate soldier
with Company K, 15th Georgia Infantry; together with land plats and indentures to property in Hancock and Washington Counties,
Ga.; and other ephemera such as Stone's C. S. A. cuff link and medals. Stone's few letters and diary entries follow his service
from 1860 through 1865, when he surrendered at Appomattox Court House shortly before General Lee's surrender. Stone left Sparta,
Georgia in 1860 and served in battles at Chattanooga, Richmond, Antietam, 2nd Manassas, Sharpsburg, Appomattox Courthouse,
etc. His activities were recorded on a bible cover which is part of this collection.

The collection consists of genealogy, correspondence, writings, photographs, daguerreotypes, and printed material. The early
correspondence concerns the LeConte, Furman and Carter families. More recent correspondence is of Carolyn Shaw McMillan, a
great granddaughter of Emma Florence LeConte Furman. Much of this correspondence deals with efforts to preserve LeConte-Woodmanston
and to reconstruct the botanical garden. In 1973 the site was placed on the National Register of Historic Places, and of the
original 3,354 acres, 63.8 acres were deeded to the Garden Club of Georgia in 1977. Most of the writings are by Emma Florence
LeConte Furman, who kept diaries for many years, and also wrote of her travels and her family.

about the estates of the deceased, communication with attorneys, banks, and retailers, inventories of assets, and receipts
from large purchases. The clippings, which date largely from the 1930s, mainly cover weddings, divorces, and deaths in the
Mdivani family, as well as their social lives, hobbies, and gossip surrounding their relationships. Photographs document the
lives of all five Mdivani siblings and their many spouses and include images of childhood and family life, weddings, social
events, travels, residences, hobbies, personal belongings, recreation, and the military career of General Zakhari Mdivani.
The collection also includes the diaries of Dennis Conan Doyle and Anthony Harwood, scrapbooks, genealogy, and artifacts,
such as Conan Doyle's racing trophy.
