He discusses time spent in cities and regions including Valencia, Madrid, Cadiz, and Granada, Spain; Marseilles and Paris, France; Munich, Berlin, and Augsburg, Germany; and Copenhagen, Denmark. Entries for the various cities and regions vary in concentration and detail, but often include observations on architecture, the characteristics of the area, accommodations, weather, food, and people. The entry for Madrid includes a lengthy discourse on a bullfight Willcox attended. The second diary contains an inscription, "My father's book of travels in Europe as a young man, Athens, March 19, 1933."
