These papers describe the history of their emigration from Santo Domingo to the United States around 1800, and their lives in Augusta, Georgia and Maryland. There are 193 photographs, which include a handmade booklet of nine photographs of Georgia entitled "The friendly road," photographs taken in Poland, photographs taken at a summer camp in Mayland, Tennessee, and numerous candid shots of people.

The collection consists of correspondence between the Pendley and Little families of Webster and Baker Counties, Georgia. Pendley correspondents include brothers Samuel and R. F. Pendley and Mary and Elizabeth Pendley (relationship unknown). Civil War correspondence includes letters from T. Z. Little at Camp Cutts and Camp Forest, Manassas Junction, Virginia (1861) and Joseph M. Little, Camp Miserable, Orange Court House, Virginia (1861) and Camp Pine Thicket, Virginia (1863). The letters discuss battles, including fighting at Winchester, and Captain A.S. Cutts of the 11th Georgia Artillery Battalion, Company A. Letters from the women, including Sarah A. R. Pease's letters were written from Camp Coburn, Maine; Galloups Island, Massachusetts; and Augusta, Savannah, and Thomasville, Georgia and contain descriptions of the different areas, his duties, the Civil War, and peace-keeping activities during Reconstruction. The collection consists of letters written by Edward James to his wife Elizabeth Harrell James in Fitzgerald, Georgia, before and after they were married. The letters give details of the camps, towns where he was stationed, his bombardier training, and the bombing missions. He gives descriptive details of the Okinawan people, houses, crops, and typhoons. The letters to his wife are both romantic and sexually explicit. The correspondence consists mainly of letters between family members, and the personal and business correspondence of Byron Herbert Reece, some were written to him when he was a tuberculosis patient at Battey State Hospital in Rome, Georgia. After Reece's suicide in 1958, much of the correspondence of Eva Mae Reece pertains to memorials to her brother Byron Herbert Reece and copyright renewals of his works.

The collection consists of biographical information, correspondence, writings, research, and photographs. Majette's only published work (1924) was White Blood, which dealt with race relations. Mistress of a Thousand Slaves is based on the life of Fanny Kemble. Research for the book includes a letter written by Fanny Kemble. Daughters of Men is about Indian tribes on the Sea Islands when the Spanish first came to Georgia. Please God... closely follows Majette's life story. Her writings also include children's stories and poems, some of which are in a scrapbook she made for her granddaughter in 1929.

The collection consists of many folders of loose material including clippings, letters, drawings of Epps planes, writings, and photographs. Of particular note are several good aerial views of Athens and the University of Georgia (circa 1920-1930s). Also of interest are several pages of reminiscences by Ben Epps, Jr., in which he writes about his early life and flying. Additional material received in 2002 includes flight manuals, membership cards, transcripts of interviews, etc. The most important item in this collection is a scrapbook (1904-1963) which documents Epps' life as a builder and flyer of airplanes. Included are over 200 photographs, as well as some clippings and letters. A few photographs, etc. can be found here of other pilots, planes, and Epps' children who were also flyers.
